Ward Richardson, MD, is a pediatric surgeon and is certified in both general surgery and pediatric surgery through the American Board of Surgery. He is director of the Benedum Pediatric Trauma Program and is assistant professor of medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.He received his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and completed his residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center followed by his fellowship at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Dr. Richardson’s clinical interests include neonatal surgery, intestinal failure, minimally invasive surgery, chest wall deformities, tumors, lung and esophageal surgery, Hirschsprung’s disease, and anorectal malformations. He has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Richardson is a member of The American College of Surgeons and the Pediatric Trauma Society. He is on the UPMC Trauma Leadership Council and is an instructor teaching Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS).
