Dr. Wendy M. Helkowski

Wendy Helkowski, MD, is a physiatrist and is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation and electrodiagnostic medicine. She is the associate designated institutional officer for UPMC Medical Education and is an associate professor, vice chair of medical education, and residency program director at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She received her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University and completed her residency at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.Dr. Helkowski’s clinical interests include resident education, electromyography, musculoskeletal disorders, and disability. She has participated in several committees in the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine including the Examination Committee where she contributed to the development of the certification test and conducted oral examinations. Dr. Helkowski was an oral board examiner and was a written item writer for the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She is a current member of the ACGME Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Review Committee.

Her clinical expertise encompasses Hereditary Neuralgic Amyotrophy and Brachial Plexopathy.

Dr. Helkowski is board certified in American Board Of Electrodiagnostic Medicine and American Board Of Physical Medicine And Rehabilitation. She is actively involved in clinical research, co-authoring 8 peer reviewed articles. Dr. Helkowski is currently accepting new patients.
