Evaluation of Radiotherapy After Complete Response to Sonic Hedgehog Pathway Inhibitors in Patients With Locally Advanced Basal Cell Carcinoma: a Prospective Multicenter Study
Summary: Locally advanced basal cell carcinoma (BCC) are large BCCs or BCCs located in areas subject to functional and aesthetic risk following surgery or radiotherapy. In these particular situations, surgery and radiotherapy are sometimes not appropriate, and Sonic Hedgehog inhibitors (SHHi) (Vismodegib and Sonidegib) can be proposed. SHHi are effective treatments in laBCC but most CR patients discontinue...
Blue-Light Photodynamic Therapy and Sonidegib for Multiple Basal Cell Carcinomas
Summary: This research study is testing combination Blue-light photodynamic therapy and Sonidegib as a possible treatment for people with multiple basal cell carcinoma lesions. Basal cell carcinoma lesions are typically treated by freezing the lesion or surgically removing the lesion. These types of treatment can cause scarring. Photodynamic therapy uses light along with a drug applied to the skin to kill ...
Registration of Oral Hedgehog Inhibitors Vismodegib and Sonidegib in the Treatment of Advanced and Multiple Basal Cell Carcinoma in the Netherlands: a Prospective Registration Study.
Background: Oral hedgehog inhibitors vismodegib and sonidegib have been used for the treatment of locally advanced (laBCC), metastatic basal cell carcinoma (mBCC) and in basal cell nevus syndrome (BCNS) patients. In the Netherlands, targeted therapy with vismodegib and sonidegib has been available since 2013 and 2021, respectively. No direct comparative studies have been performed between the two oral hedgeho...
A Pilot Study to Evaluate Short Term Neoadjuvant Sonidegib Followed by Surgery or Imiquimod in the Management of Basal Cell Carcinomas in Cosmetically Challenging Locations
Summary: In this study, patients with BCC will be given neoadjuvant treatment with a drug called sonidegib. Sonidegib is a daily tablet usually given for BCC that cannot be removed by surgery or that has spread through the body. The study aims to see if sonidegib given for 12 weeks will reduce the size of tumours so surgery results in less scarring or may be avoided, with only short term topical treatment ...
A Phase II, Open-label Study Improving Compliance and Time of Treatment After Obtaining Complete Response Through a Tailored Schedule of Sonidegib in Locally Advanced Basal Cell Carcinomas (BCC) - the SONIBEC Trial
Summary: Adult patients with locally advanced BCC, not amenable to surgical treatment and who obtained a complete response (CR) to Hedgehog inhibitors are administered a tailored schedule of the study drug. The tailored schedule consists of a change in the time of drug assumption. It implements some weeks of assumption and some weeks of suspension of sonidegib rather than a continuous administration.
