A Human Experimental Medicine Study to Assess Whether the Gut Microbiota Regulates Specific and Non-specific Immune Responses to Vaccination

Summary: The goal of this clinical trial is to examine immune responses to the BCG vaccine in healthy adults who have, or who have not, taken antibiotics to deplete their gut bacteria prior to vaccination. The main question it aims to answer is: does depletion of the gut microbiota lead to impaired BCG-induced protection against specific and non-specific to challenges to the immune system?

A Phase I, Open-label, Multi-center Exploratory Safety and Efficacy Study With PSMA, SSTR2 and GRPR Targeted Radioligand Therapy in Metastatic Neuroendocrine Prostate Cancer.

Summary: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the change in the expression of treatment targets on the surface of tumor cells (Prostate Specific Membrane Antigen (PSMA), Somatostatin Receptor 2 (SSTR2), and Gastrin Releasing Peptide Receptor (GRPR) between the baseline and following targeted radioligand therapy (RLT). Study will use radioligand imaging (RLI) to determine predominantly expressed target ...

Olanzapine Plus Metoclopramide for the Prevention of Opioid-Induced Nausea and Vomiting

Summary: The goal of this clinical trial is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of olanzapine plus metoclopramide in preventing opioid-induced nausea and vomiting (OINV) in adult patients with advanced cancer who are initiating strong opioid therapy. The main questions it aims to answer are: (1) Does the combination of olanzapine and metoclopramide reduce the incidence of OINV? (2)What adverse events do pa...

Restoration of Hypoglycemia Awareness With Metoclopramide

Summary: Metoclopramide is a drug approved by the FDA for gastroesophageal reflux and to relieve symptoms in adults with acute and recurrent diabetic gastroparesis. The objective of this study is to determine whether metoclopramide can improve hypoglycemia awareness and decrease the incidence of hypoglycemia in type 1 diabetes patients with hypoglycemia unawareness.

Efficacy of Dexamethasone Versus Metoclopramide for Prophylaxis of Nausea and Vomiting After Cataract Surgery: A Double-blind Randomized Controlled Study

Summary: Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) is a common consequence of ambulatory surgery, affecting up to 80% of high-risk patients and 20-30% overall. Despite being widespread, a prior survey found that patients are more averse to PONV than pain and other significant postoperative problems. Furthermore, even mild cases of PONV can have serious repercussions, such as postanesthesia care unit (PACU) ...

Efficacy of Metoclopramide in Poor Ovarian Response IVF Patients: a Randomised, Double-blind, Placebo-controlled Trial

Summary: Poor ovarian response population of ART are considered the biggest challenge for providers. Hitherto, no one protocol has been proven to be effect in this subgroup of IVF patients. Metoclopramide belongs to the antiemetic group, used for motion sickness and during early gestation for hyperemesis gravidarum. The mechanism of action is antagonisim to dopamine receptors. We hypothesize than by blocki...

Comparison of Efficacy of Metoclopramide , Promethazine and Prochloroperazine in the Treatment of Vertigo.

Background: Vertigo as acute symptom seem to be one of most common presentation in ED, can be treated in ED with multiple medication .

A Randomized Controlled Trial Evaluating the Effect of Intravenous Dexamethasone on the Duration of Spinal Anesthesia as Part of a Multimodal Antiemetic Strategy for Enhanced Recovery After Cesarean Delivery

Summary: The goal of this clinical trial is to determine the effects of intravenous (IV) dexamethasone on spinal anesthesia in healthy women having an elective Cesarean delivery (CD) at the IWK Health Centre. The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. What effect does IV dexamethasone have on the resolution of motor blockade in patients having spinal anesthesia for elective CDs? 2. What effect does IV de...

Efficacy of Metoclopramide for Gastric Visualization by Endoscopy in Patients With Active Upper Gastrointestinal Bleeding: Multicenter, Double-blind Randomized Controlled Trial

Summary: This study aim to evaluate the efficacy of metoclopramide for gastric visualization in patients with active UGIB. This is a double-blinded, multicenter RCT. Patients with 'active' UGIB (hematemesis or presence of fresh blood in the nasogastric tube) were enrolled. The eligible patients were randomly assigned in a concealed 1:1 allocation to received either intravenous metoclopramide or placebo bef...
