The Mechanism of Action Underlying Ketamine's Antidepressant Effects: An Investigation of the AMPA Throughput Theory in Patients With Treatment-Resistant Major Depression

Background: Most drugs that treat mood disorders take a long time to work. Ketamine works within hours. A dose can last for a week or more. Certain receptors in the brain might help ketamine work. A drug that blocks these receptors might affect how it works.

An Open-Label Study With Extension Phase to Evaluate the Efficacy and Safety of Perampanel Administered as an Adjunctive Therapy in Pediatric Subjects (Age 1 Month to Less Than 18 Years) With Childhood Epilepsy

Summary: The purpose of the study is to evaluate the efficacy of perampanel as measured by the 50 percent (%) responder rate during the maintenance period of the core study for seizure frequency in participants with pediatric epileptic syndrome (Cohort 1) and partial-onset seizures (POS) (Cohort 2).

SUPER-refractory Status Epilepticus After Cardiac Arrest: a Multicenter, Retrospective, Cohort Study of Dual Anti-glutamate Therapy With Ketamine and Perampanel

Summary: Status epilepticus (SE) is found in 20-30% of patients in coma after cardiac arrest, is often refractory to medical therapy and is considered a negative prognostic factor. Intensity and duration of treatment of refractory and super-refractory post-anoxic SE pose the ethical dilemma between futility of treatments and, conversely, their premature suspension. A recent study by the Epilepsy Center of ...

PeRampanel fOr Status ePilEpticus pRophylaxis Post-cardiac Arrest

Summary: Brain injury is the main cause of death and disability for patients surviving cardiac arrest resuscitation and seizures are diagnosed in up to a third of these patients. The investigators are proposing a pilot randomized placebo-controlled clinical trial to evaluate the safety and feasibility of perampanel use for post-cardiac arrest status epilepticus (PCARSE) prevention after cardiac arrest.

Alpha-Amino-3-Hydroxy-5-Methyl-4- Isoxazole Propionic Acid Receptor Components of the Anti-Depressant Ketamine Response

Summary: The proposed study will assess the combined effect of perampanel and ketamine on the anti-depressant response in individuals with treatment resistant depression. The purpose of this study is to test the hypothesis that stimulation of Alpha-Amino-3-Hydroxy-5-Methyl-4- Isoxazole Propionic Acid receptors (AMPAR) is critical to the anti-depressant response of ketamine.

The Impact of AMPA Receptor Blockade on Ketamine's Anti-Suicidal Effects

Summary: The purpose of this study is to test the hypothesis that the anti-depressant and anti-suicidal effects of the N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDAR) antagonist Ketamine is critically dependent on stimulation of Alpha-Amino-3-Hydroxy-5-Methyl-4-Isoxazole Propionic Acid receptors (AMPAR).

Population Pharmacokinetics, Effectiveness and Safety of Antiepileptic Drugs in Elderly Patients

Summary: The purpose is to study the population pharmacokinetics, effectiveness and safety of antiepileptic drug (phenytoin, carbamazepine, lamotrigine, levetiracetam, parempanel, etc) in elderly patients and recommend optimized dosage regimens.
