Pharmacokinetics and Safety of Commonly Used Drugs in Lactating Women and Breastfed Infants
Summary: Over half of women in the US who are breastfeeding their infants take prescription drugs. You are being asked to participate in this study because you are breastfeeding your infant and are currently taking, as part of your medical care, at least one of the drugs we are studying. We are interested in studying drugs commonly prescribed to women who are breastfeeding so we can learn more about the am...
Comparison of Levetiracetam Versus Lacosamide for Seizure Prevention in Moderate to Severe Traumatic Brain Injured Patients
Summary: The purpose of this study is to assess the incidence of early post-traumatic seizures. The study will also assess the benefit of lacosamide compared to levetiracetam in regards to agitation and behavioral adverse effects in patients with moderate to severe traumatic brain injury requiring seizure prophylaxis.
Ketamine add-on Therapy for Established Status Epilepticus Treatment Trial (KESETT)
Summary: The goal of this clinical trial is to determine if treatment of patients with two doses of ketamine plus levetiracetam versus levetiracetam alone leads to more effective control of status epilepticus.
Short Versus Long-term Levetiracetam in Brain Tumors: A Phase 3 Randomized Controlled Trial (LIBRA)
Summary: Levetiracetam is the commonly preferred anti-seizure medicine in patients with brain tumors. This drug has reduced the risk of seizure events occurring but is associated with a risk of side effects such as increased headache, drowsiness, loss of muscle coordination, and psychological challenges in patients. In patients undergoing appropriate treatment for brain tumors and controlled of seizures in...
A Phase II Randomized Open-Label Trial of Levetiracetam for Prevention of Seizures in Patients With Brain Metastases in Primary Motor Cortex
Summary: This is a randomized trial for patients with brain metastases in the primary motor cortex who have not had seizures to receive either the prophylactic anti-seizure medication levetiracetam (also known by its trade name Keppra) or proceed with standard of care management, which does not currently include prophylactic levetiracetam. Patients who enroll to this trial will be randomized to receive pro...
A Phase III, Randomized, Double-blinded Study of the Efficacy and Safety of LEvetiracetam to Prevent Seizures in Symptomatic Alzheimer's Disease in Adults With Down Syndrome (the LESS-AD Trial).
Summary: The purpose of this study is to evaluate whether levetiracetam can prevent epileptic seizures in patients with Alzheimer's disease associated with Down syndrome. It will also analyze whether it can delay the neurodegeneration associated with this disease. Patients will be randomly assigned to one of two groups: one group will receive the active drug (levetiracetam), and the other will receive a pl...
A Phase IIb Dose Escalation Study of Levetiracetam for the Treatment of Neonatal Seizures
Summary: The main purpose of this study is to determine the maximum safe tolerated dose of LEV in the treatment of neonatal seizures. Our hypothesis is that optimal dosing of Levetiracetam (LEV) to treat neonatal seizures is significantly greater than 60mg/kg. This study will be an open label dose-escalation, preliminary safety and efficacy study. There will be a randomized control treatment component. Inf...
Clinical Trial Evaluating the Efficacy and Safety of AGB101 for Treatment of Parkinson's Disease Related Psychosis
Summary: This clinical trial will test whether AGB101 (low-dose levetiracetam, 220 mg, extended release tablet) can improve symptoms of psychosis in Parkinson's disease. Participants will be asked to complete up to 5 in-person study visits over approximately 20 weeks. Participants will receive both AGB101 and a placebo to take once a day for 6 weeks, with a 4-week washout in between. Participation will als...
A Platform Protocol to Investigate Post-Transplant Cyclophosphamide-Based Graft-Versus-Host Disease Prophylaxis in Patients With Hematologic Malignancies Undergoing Mismatched Unrelated Donor Peripheral Blood Stem Cell Transplantation
Summary: The purpose of this clinical trial is to compare drug combinations to learn which drugs work best to prevent graft-versus-host-disease (GVHD) in people who have received a stem cell transplant. The source of stem cells is from someone who is not related and has a different blood cell type than the study participant. The researchers will compare the new drug combination to a standard drug combinati...
High Dose Ruxolitinib and Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplantation in Myelofibrosis Patients With Splenomegaly
Summary: To learn if giving ruxolitinib and busulfan before a stem cell transplant can help to reduce spleen size and help the transplant to succeed.
Assessing Phenytoin and Levetiracetam Efficacy, Cost-Effectiveness, and CYP2C9/SV2A Polymorphism in Early Post-Traumatic Seizures: A Multicentric Prospective Randomized Trial
Objectives: To evaluate the seizure incidence \& efficacy of the respective anti-epileptic drug in each treatment arm. Assessment of clinical \& functional outcomes, safety profile, and cost-effectiveness in each group. Effect of genetic polymorphisms on seizure incidence among study participants
Intravenous Levetiracetam Versus Intravenous Phenobarbital in Children With Prolonged Seizures Unresponsive to Benzodiazepines
Summary: Convulsive prolonged seizures in children are the most common life-threatening neurological emergencies. The aim of active management of seizure control is to prevent irreversible neuronal damage as early as possible. Although there is evidence of the use of benzodiazepines as the initial management for prolonged seizures, up to a third of patients do not respond to benzodiazepines. Many trials st...
