The Use of Landiolol in Mitral Valve sUrgery: a raNdomized, Controlled, Double-blind triAl (LUNA)

Summary: Chronic mitral regurgitation is the most common valvular abnormality worldwide, it occurs in 10% of the general population and its prevalence increases with age. When left untreated, it can lead to left ventricular dysfunction and cause disabling symptoms (e.g., fatigue and dyspnea), life-threatening complications (e.g., ventricular dilation, congestive heart failure) and death. Surgical correctio...

The Impact of Sympathetic Drive Control With Cardio-Selective Beta-Blockers on Infarct Size After Acute Myocardial Infarction

Introduction: The effect of intravenous beta-blockers on the extent of the necrotic area, after primary percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA), for acute myocardial infarction is not well established. Purpose: The present study aims to investigate, whether the early intravenous administration of landiolol, a highly cardioselective b-blocker, reduces the extent of the necrotic area after ST-elevat...

Comparison of Landiolol Versus Standard of Care for Prevention of Mortality in Patients Hospitalized for a Septic Shock With Hypercontractility: an Open Label Prospective Randomized Study

Summary: Several data emphasize the relation between tachycardia (\>90/min) and high mortality during septic shock. The investigators previously demonstrated the high mortality associated with hypercontractility, tachycardia and the presence of a left ventricular obstruction. A severe hypovolemia, a hyper adrenergic stimulation or a severe vasoplegia can all explain this relation between tachycardia, hyper...

LANdiolol MIcrocirculatory Effects During Septic chOc

Summary: The objectives of this study are to evaluate the effect of continuous intravenous Landiolol injection (from 0.5 to 10 µg/kg/min during 12 hours ) up to a 15% decrease in Heart Rate (HR) on microcirculatory vascular reactivity vs. usual tachycardia management and evaluate the hemodynamic effects of Landiolol vs. usual management in patients with septic shock.
