Overview
Dr. Christopher H. Perkins was born and raised in the Houston area and was the first of his extended family to attend college. He completed his undergraduate and graduate degrees at Baylor University in Waco, Texas in 2002. Dr. Perkins then attended medical school and completed a residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine. He completed a fellowship in Orthopedic Trauma at the University of Miami and spent two and a half years as a faculty member at the University of Florida at Jacksonville.Being a native Houstonian and a product of Baylor, Dr. Perkins returned in 2015 to join the faculty of Baylor College of Medicine fulfilling a dream to practice and educate at his alma mater. As a part of the fracture specialists at Baylor, Dr. Perkins provides care for the underserved patients at Ben Taub Hospital and also patients at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center, The Methodist Hospital, and Texas Children’s Hospital. The shared practice philosophy of our group is to provide excellent fracture care to all of our patients regardless of their socioeconomic status.In addition to acute fracture care, Dr. Perkins is considered a national expert in the Ilizarov methods of limb reconstruction and deformity correction using ringed external fixators and the Taylor Spatial Frame. He also specializes in fractures that did not heal (nonunions) and bones that have chronic infection (osteomyelitis).
