In medical school, she received several honors, which included graduating from UCSF with distinction as well as election to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. During her residency, she received an award for her commitment to a career in sports medicine from the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine. She was also the inaugural recipient of an award for exceptional academic achievement from the UCSF pediatric residency program. During both her residency and fellowship training, Ramirez has provided medical coverage for many Bay Area sporting events at the high school and collegiate levels. At UCSF, she was team physician for Lowell High School and led educational workshops for student-athletes on wellness, sports performance, mental health and injury prevention.
