Dr. Craig H. Weinstein

Dr. Weinstein is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon with additional fellowship training in sports medicine and has been in practice since 2005. His specialties include shoulder, elbow, and knee issues as well as athletic injuries in both adult and adolescent patients. He works with a variety of both individual and team sports with a passion for shoulder and elbow injuries in baseball and softball. In addition, he offers expertise in joint replacement surgery, especially that of the shoulder and knee. He was a pioneer in bringing in-office diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound to the Valley and established the first musculoskeletal facility to be accredited by the AIUM.Dr. Weinstein has significant experience in advanced arthroscopic and other minimally invasive surgeries. He treats a variety of complex conditions including shoulder instability, knee ligament reconstruction, elbow ligament reconstructions (Tommy John surgery) and tendon tears. In fact, other surgeons often refer complex revision surgeries to his practice.Dr. Weinstein is a New York native by birth and arrived in the Valley with his family during his early teens. He attended Saguaro High School in Scottsdale prior to graduating Columbia University in New York. He completed medical school at Tulane University in New Orleans earning both his Doctor of Medicine degree and a Master of Public Health in health systems management. He became an orthopaedic surgeon at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York where he was selected as Executive Chief Resident his final year. He then completed his sports medicine fellowship at the world-renowned American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham. Following this, he was awarded the very prestigious Herodicus Traveling Fellowship to further his training.Dr. Weinstein strives to bring the same level of care and commitment he learned while taking care of professional (SF Giants, Orlando Predators), collegiate (University of Alabama, Jacksonville State University), and elite (USA Gymnastics, Disney ESPN Wide world of Sports) athletes to his local SE Valley communities. As a community-based sports medicine surgeon, he has worked with dozens of local high schools and community colleges bringing that same interest to all our residents. Dr. Weinstein strives to understand his patients’ goals, recognizing that every one of us is unique, has different needs and faces different challenges. In this way, treatment programs, whether surgical or not, are tailored to the individual needs of the patient and their family.
