Overview
Dr. Uzcategui specializes in Oculofacial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He received his medical degree from the Central University of Venezuela Medical School in Caracas, Venezuela. He completed his internship in Internal Medicine at Maryland General Hospital in Baltimore, and his Ophthalmology residency at the University of Louisville Kentucky Lions Eye Center. Dr. Uzcategui has completed both fellowships in Pediatric Ophthalmology at Children's Hospital Los Angeles and an American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) sponsored fellowship at the University of Southern California Doheny Eye Institute, Los Angeles. He has served as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at The Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California, and at Dartmouth Medical School where he actively taught residents and fellows in Ophthalmology and Oculofacial Plastic Surgery. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and a Fellow of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Uzcategui is a published author in peer reviewed journals and chapters in Oculoplastic textbooks. He has been an invited guest lecturer at numerous scientific meetings and Ophthalmology Departments nationally and internationally. Dr. Uzcategui is fluent in English, Spanish and German.Southwestern Eye Center doctors provides state-of-the-art LASIK to Phoenix, Mesa, Sedona and the surrounding communities. We also provide comprehensive optometry and ophthalmology services, including subspecialty procedures in vitreoretinal disease, oculoplastics, cornea disease, glaucoma, refractive procedures, low vision aids and ocular prosthetics. All of our doctors are highly skilled and many have additional advanced fellowship training. We work closely with a large community of referring optometrists so that patients can remain with the doctors they know and trust.

After practicing general ophthalmology for four years with an emphasis on eye plastic surgery, she did an ASOPRS-approved two-year fellowship in oculofacial plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Washington in Seattle. Dr. Garcia is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Her area of expertise encompasses the management of abnormalities of the eyelids, lacrimal (tear) system, orbit (the bony cavity surrounding the eye), and cosmetic rejuvenation of the face. She also performs Botox injections and has experience with a variety of dermal fillers.
