Dr. Ragui W. Sedeek

Specializing in medical and surgical treatments of eye disease, Dr. Randall Goodman joined Shepard Eye Center in 2005. In addition to his focus on performing state-of-the-art cataract, laser, glaucoma, refractive and eyelid plastic surgery, he is the author of an ophthalmology textbook and numerous journal articles, book chapters and scientific abstracts.Prior to joining Shepard Eye Center, Dr. Goodman served as Chief of Ophthalmology at the United States Air Force and Veteran’s Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. He received his Medical Doctor degree from Loma Linda University School of Medicine. After serving for two years as an Air Force flight surgeon, he completed his ophthalmology residency at Wilford Hall Air Force Medical Center and Brooke Army Medical Center.Dr. Goodman is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. He is recognized throughout his profession as an award-winning writer, teacher and researcher. Dr. Goodman also has participated in surgical mission trips to Mexico, Honduras and Nicaragua.An involved community member on the Central Coast, Dr. Goodman and his wife, a family physician, are raising their daughter in the Santa Maria area. Dr. Bylsma is a member of the clinical faculty at UCLA, Department of Ophthalmology associated with the Jules Stein Eye Institute.Dr. Bylsma received his Medical Doctor degree from the Oregon Health Services University and completed his residency in ophthalmology at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Bylsma is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. He serves on the editorial board for the peer-reviewed journal, Annals of Ophthalmology/Glaucoma.Dr. Bylsma has been a principal investigator for numerous FDA investigational studies, including the Visian Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL), the AquaFlow implant for glaucoma and the Collamer Intraocular Lens. He continues this work with ongoing FDA studies involving Viscoshield viscoelastic substance and the new Hoya intraocular lens. He has been an author in numerous textbooks, scientific journals and ophthalmology magazines.
