Dr. Jason Fan
Overview
As a retina specialist and vitreoretinal surgeon, I believe that I have the best job in the world. I love meeting people, hearing about their experiences, and helping them with their retinal conditions. My calling is to do everything I can to help patients with their vision, bringing to bear the latest technologies, medical treatments, and surgical techniques. I have a special interest in ocular trauma, dislocated intraocular lenses, and diabetic retinal detachments. I also love working at Duke, where I can collaborate with a world-class team that always puts our patients first. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, traveling, and playing the piano.

Duke Eye Center
I am a Duke vitreoretinal surgeon and Moorfields uveitis trained ophthalmologist, specializing in patients with complex medical and surgical problems of the back of the eye, known as the retina, as well as patients with inflammation in the eye or uveitis. I use the latest diagnostic and therapeutic methods along with a collaborative team effort with colleagues across Duke Eye Center and the Duke Rheumatology and Immunology division to develop the optimum treatment plans for patients with uveitis. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with the family, traveling, watching sports, and landscape photography. My clinical interests include uveitis, iridocyclitis, scleritis, pediatric uveitis, juvenile idiopathic arthritis, ocular cicatricial pemphigoid, bacterial and viral infections of the eye, ocular rosacea, and severe dry eye.
