Dr. Robert A. Palermo

Denise A. Hayes, MD, is a fellowship-trained pediatric cardiologist with Atlantic Medical Group (AMG) and is the director of Pediatric Pulmonary Hypertension at Goryeb Children’s Hospital, part of Morristown Medical Center. She is board-certified in both pediatrics and pediatric cardiology by the American Board of Pediatrics, with expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of fetuses, infants, children and adolescents with congenital and acquired heart disease and arrhythmias. She also specializes in the care of children with pulmonary hypertension, a cardiopulmonary condition associated with premature birth and other forms of chronic lung disease.After earning her medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, DC, Dr. Hayes completed her pediatrics residency at New York-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center and her pediatric cardiology fellowship at New York-Presbyterian Columbia University Medical Center in New York City. Following her medical training, she spent over 10 years as a pediatric cardiologist at the Cohen Children’s Medical Center/Northwell Health, and served as an associate professor of clinical pediatrics at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. She developed and directed the Pediatric Pulmonary Hypertension service, served as the pediatric cardiology fellowship training program director, and had a wide range of clinical responsibilities including fetal cardiology, transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography, outpatient pediatric cardiology, pediatric cardiac critical care, and pediatric pulmonary hypertension.Dr. Hayes is an accomplished researcher, having authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, medical articles, and book chapters on pediatric cardiovascular disease. She is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (ACC) and the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE), and a member of the Society for Pediatric Research.
