Overview
I attended medical school in India, where, as a resident, I was first drawn to pediatrics because of the resilience I witnessed in sick children and the amazing way they bounced back after serious illness. I furthered my medical training in Britain, Canada and here in the United States. I have been a pediatric kidney specialist since 1995, and I have been at Duke since 2009. As a pediatric nephrologist, I care for children with high blood pressure, acute kidney damage, chronic kidney failure, genetic kidney disease and inflammation of the kidneys, as well as for children who need kidney transplants. The advances made in pediatric nephrology over the past 30 years have made it possible for infants and children who suffer from kidney disease to live long, healthy lives, where before there was very little hope. It is extremely rewarding to participate in these advances and to care for these patients and their families.
