Being a pediatrician is so much fun, and being around children makes me happy. Every day I teach and counsel families, and every day they teach me something new. It is a true privilege to watch my patients grow and to have the opportunity to learn from them and build relationships with their families. I’m excited to teach residents and medical students about early childhood development and autism in the same way I was taught. I am lucky to have had great mentors in the field who taught me medicine in a very supportive environment. My mentors inspired in me curiosity, compassion and service and, by teaching the next generation of clinicians, I hope to pay it forward. As a pediatrician, I see myself as an advocate for children, always putting the patient’s needs first. I listen attentively to each child and family, identify what is needed, and then represent their voice. Much of my day-to-day work involves addressing any barriers the family may encounter in seeking and receiving coordinated care. Dr. Perry is rated as an Experienced provider by MediFind in the treatment of Costello Syndrome. Her top areas of expertise are Autism Spectrum Disorder, Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome, Pica, and Spasmus Nutans.

I recall the awe and fascination I felt for my own pediatrician growing up, and that inspired me to go into medicine and care for children. The first time I heard a human heartbeat with a stethoscope in medical school, I knew I wanted to be a cardiologist! I enjoy the challenge of putting together information from a patient’s medical history, physical examination, and test results to arrive at a diagnosis. Treating children with heart problems can be complicated, and it’s important for patients and families to understand what’s going on. I pride myself on my ability to explain complex diagnoses and situations in non-medical terms, so everyone can understand. It’s a unique privilege to work so closely with children and families. Dr. Ritz is rated as an Experienced provider by MediFind in the treatment of Costello Syndrome. His top areas of expertise are Familial Neurocardiogenic Syncope, Heart Murmurs, Patent Ductus Arteriosus, and Fainting.

Dr. Deepika Thacker is a pediatric cardiologist and assistant professor of Pediatrics at Jefferson Medical College. She’s a member of the American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association and American Society of Echocardiography; an invited lecturer; and an author of journal articles, book chapters and abstracts. I first thought about medicine when I was young and doctors discovered a hole in a friend’s heart. From that moment, I decided I wanted to become a doctor and help children with problems like my friend’s. I never wanted to be anything else. Medical school and my medical training reaffirmed this decision. There is an added attraction to cardiology in that it provides a challenging field of medicine to study — the mix of anatomy and physiology is almost like math or engineering, and I enjoy it very much. Becoming a mother further validated my career choice for me. I see something of one of my own children in every child I treat.I’m happiest when I’m caring for children.. There’s no better feeling for me than when I’ve helped a child get better. At the end of every day I am thankful to be able to do what I do. I always want to make sure that every child gets the best care and treatment, and that we do everything possible for that child. My role is to help each child get the most out of each day. In addition to the care I deliver as a cardiologist, I also try to make a difference every day through my role as medical director of the hospital’s 2B cardiac unit. As we move to more unit-based inpatient care, we’ll continue to always look for ways to improve the great care we give. I’m excited to be a part of that. We’ll continue to work so that patients being discharged can go home sooner. We’ll continue to work to reduce readmissions. And we’ll continue to explore what it means to deliver true family-centered care — making parents and families part of our medical rounding and decision-making. Dr. Thacker is rated as an Experienced provider by MediFind in the treatment of Costello Syndrome. Her top areas of expertise are Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MIS-C), Kawasaki Disease, Pediatric Myocarditis, Myocarditis, and Heart Transplant.

I’m a mom of three, one of whom has special needs, and this gives me a good perspective on my work. I enjoy that medicine is a career where I can continuously learn new things. I’m a natural caretaker at heart, and I love partnering with parents to help their children grow and develop into healthy adults. I knew when I was very young I wanted to work with children. I also loved science and problem solving, so becoming a pediatrician was a natural fit. I knew it was the right fit when I diagnosed a baby with life-threatening meningitis during my first year of practice. Because she was treated in time, she survived to lead a healthy, normal life. I sometimes think she was my reason for being here on earth. I have a deep interest in autism spectrum disorders and do all I can to keep up with research in that field. What is the definition of Costello Syndrome?

Costello syndrome is a rare disorder that affects many parts of the body. This condition is characterized by delayed development, loose folds of skin (which are especially noticeable on the hands and feet), unusually flexible joints, heart problems, short stature, and distinctive facial features.

When should I see a Costello Syndrome doctor in Delaware, US?

There are various reasons why you may want to see a specialist, such as:

    • Your primary care provider recommends it.
    • Your condition requires expert knowledge and specialized care.
    • Your symptoms persist or worsen despite treatment.
    • You need specialized testing or procedures.
    • You want a second opinion.

What should I consider when choosing a Costello Syndrome doctor in Delaware, US?

It’s important to see a provider with expertise in your specific condition. Each provider profile in MediFind’s doctor database includes information on which conditions they treat, years of experience, research contributions, languages spoken, insurance plans accepted, and more.

How does MediFind rank Costello Syndrome doctors in Delaware, US?

MediFind’s rankings are based on a variety of data sources, such as the number of articles a doctor has published in medical journals, participation in clinical trials and industry conferences, as well as the number of patients that provider sees for a given condition. Note that MediFind’s provider database is not based on user reviews, and providers do not pay to be included in the database.

What types of insurance are accepted by Costello Syndrome doctors in Delaware, US?

Most profiles in MediFind’s doctor database include a list of insurance plans accepted by that provider. However, it’s a good idea to contact the provider’s office to make sure they still accept your insurance, then doublecheck by contacting your insurance plan to confirm they’re in network.

How can I book an appointment online with a Costello Syndrome doctor in Delaware, US?

MediFind offers direct scheduling for certain providers using the “Request Appointment” button on that provider’s profile. If the schedule option is not available for a provider, tap the red “Show Phone Number” button on their profile to get their contact information. If you prefer to find providers who offer online scheduling, select “Schedules online” under the “Availability” category of the filter feature on the left side of the Costello Syndrome doctor search results page.

Why is it important to get a second opinion from a different Costello Syndrome doctor?

Second opinions are an opportunity to confirm a diagnosis and its root cause, learn about alternative treatment options, or simply gain peace of mind. Many people, especially those with serious diagnoses, get second opinions so they can understand all their options and make informed decisions, so don’t hesitate to get one if you have any doubts or need more information or clarification regarding your care. Note that some insurance plans require second opinions, while others don’t cover second opinions, so be sure to confirm with your insurance provider first.

How can I prepare for my appointment with a Costello Syndrome doctor in Delaware, US?

Prepare for your appointment by gathering the following items:

    • Copies of medical records (dating back at least one year)
    • Your medical history, including illnesses, medical conditions, surgeries, and other doctors you see
    • Family history of disease
    • List of current prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal remedies or supplements including names and doses
    • Allergies to medications, food, latex, insects, etc.
    • List of questions and concerns
    • Your insurance card

You might also contact the provider’s office to see if they offer transportation or childcare services or if you’re allowed to bring a loved one for support or to take notes during your visit.

What questions should I ask my Costello Syndrome doctor?

    Here are some sample questions:

    • Can you explain in simple terms what this condition is and how it’s treated?
    • What symptoms or side effects should I watch for?
    • What tests will be involved, and when can I expect results?
    • Are there other specialists I need to see?
    • What’s the best way to reach you if I have follow-up questions?

How can I learn about the latest clinical trials and research advances my Costello Syndrome doctor may know about?

MediFind’s Clinical Trials tool asks you a series of questions to help you narrow down your search by health condition, age, gender, location, how far you’re willing to travel, and more. Each question you answer filters down the number of trials until you find the ones that are most relevant to you.

MediFind’s Latest Advances tool features summaries of recent articles published in medical journals. We use cutting-edge technology to scour medical publication databases for the latest research advancements on any given condition, then we simplify this information in a way that’s useful and easy to understand.

Can I filter my search to show male or female Costello Syndrome doctors in Delaware, US?

Look for the filter feature on the left side of the Costello Syndrome doctor search results page. Select “Female” or “Male” under the “Gender” category to search for female or male providers exclusively. If the “Any” option is selected, it will pull results for both male and female providers.

Can I filter my search to find a Costello Syndrome doctor that offers video calls?

Look for the filter feature on the left-side of the Costello Syndrome doctor search results page. Select “Offers telehealth visits” under the Availability category to search for providers who offer virtual appointments (video calls).
