What is the definition of Deafness Craniofacial Syndrome?
Craniofacial syndrome with deafness is an extremely rare genetic (autosomal dominant) disorder in which an infant is born with facial abnormalities and profound hearing loss due to abnormal development of the inner ear. There are several types of craniofacial syndromes that include hearing impairment, such as Waardenburg syndrome.
What are the symptoms of Deafness Craniofacial Syndrome?
Individuals with craniofacial syndrome and deafness have an unusually wide nasal bridge and small nostrils and often have other congenital abnormalities in the hand and fingers, among others.
