Unfortunately she succumbed to gastrointestinal cancer. But while caring for her at a young age, I experienced medicine from diagnosis to surgical treatment and finally palliative care. I compete in Ironman triathlons annually, and so far have completed nine in places such as New York, Kentucky, Maryland and Quebec.
