He completed a residency in internal medicine at the Boston University Medical Center, followed by a gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition fellowship at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Dr. Shocket previously served as the director of endoscopy at the Boston Veteran’s Administration Medical Center and an assistant professor of medicine at Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. Shocket leads Capital Digestive Care’s continuing medical education program, serves on the board of managers and is the medical director for the Washington gastroenterology division. He is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American College of Physicians and the American Gastroenterological Association. He is also a member of the Medical Advisory Board of the District of Columbia chapter of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation and a volunteer physician for So Others Might Eat, where he earned the Outstanding Volunteer Award in 1994 and the Caring Award in 2002.
