Dr. Brian A. Shaner

I am a native of North Carolina and particularly Vance County. I take pride in returning to my hometown to provide for the medical needs of my patients. I joined Duke Primary Care Henderson in November 2011, and I have truly enjoyed my experience and the patients that I have cared for along the way. I decided to stay with Duke and transferred to Duke Primary Care Waverly Place in Cary in July 2014. This move provided more opportunities for my husband and we were able to be closer to family. I provide a full spectrum of patient care, extending from newborns to geriatrics. I have a strong interest in management of chronic disease, such as diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and heart disease. I also enjoy women's health and provide services for IUD placement/removal, and Nexplanon placement/removal. I enjoy office procedures, including joint injections, incision and drainage of abscesses, toenail removal, laceration repair, and cyrosurgery for skin lesions. I enjoy dealing with urgent care and walk-in issues. I have a strong desire for continuing medical education, and enjoy teaching medical and nursing students at our clinic.
