Overview
Dr. Philip (Flip) Smith joined the faculty of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1977. He is a pulmonary and critical care trained physician. He is an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep and breathing disorders and in the care of critically ill patients. In 1977, Dr. Smith became the Director of the Medical Intensive Care Unit at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center (formerly Baltimore City Hospitals). He then established the Adult Sleep Clinic in 1980. Dr. Smith earned his M.D. from the Tulane University School of Medicine. He completed his residency at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and performed a fellowship in pulmonary medicine at Johns Hopkins Medicine.
