Dr. Charles Paidas is chief of the Division of Pediatric General Surgery. He's been a medical school vice dean and professor, invited lecturer, researcher, author and editor of major medical journals. He's board-certified in general surgery, pediatric surgery and surgical critical care, and has treated kids and teens for more than 30 years. Everything starts with childhood. I've always been fascinated with children — and families as a whole. I'm very interested in the role of healthy families in the greater framework of society.  Another subject that fascinates me is embryology (the study of babies while they grow and develop in the womb) and the health of babies before they're even born. I'm passionate about us delivering valuable, team-based, safe health care for children.  And I'm passionate about training future physicians, and believe that a hospital’s participation in good, solid graduate medical education (programs that train medical school graduates in their residencies and fellowships) is a big asset to the organization — and to patients and families — providing real benefits in the enhanced quality of care that it helps achieve. In addition to caring for children, one way I work to make a difference is through my emphasis on faculty development, including areas such as physician wellness and professionalism. I also try to make a difference in the field of medicine through my participation and membership in The Society of University Surgeons and The American Association for the Surgery of Trauma. Dr. Paidas is rated as an Experienced provider by MediFind in the treatment of Fibrosing Mediastinitis. He is also highly rated in 12 other conditions, according to our data. His clinical expertise encompasses Atresia of Small Intestine, Pilonidal Sinus Disease, Retroperitoneal Inflammation, and Annular Pancreas. Dr. Paidas is board certified in American Board Of Surgery.

Dr. Boelig is a board-certified pediatric general surgeon with a broad clinical practice and an interest in minimally invasive surgery and surgical education. He is the associate program director for the pediatric surgery fellowship and director of the surgical clerkship for medical students at Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware. As a pediatric surgeon, I believe I have the best job in the world. Caring for children is motivating and rewarding. I am fascinated by the ability of children to maintain resilience, hope and kindness of heart in the face of illness. Parents place a sacred trust in us to operate on and care for their children, and for that I am honored and grateful. I am also drawn to the extraordinary breadth of pediatric surgical care, which is unique in the profession of surgery. On any given day, I may care for a pre-term baby in our neonatal intensive care unit, fix an inguinal hernia in a toddler and treat a teenager who has sustained injuries in an accident. Operating on the smallest of patients demands a high level of meticulousness and technique. I am interested in adapting minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopy, thoracoscopy and robotic surgery) to pediatric patients in such a way as to minimize pain and scars, to preserve function and to promote a speedier recovery. I am also passionate about family-centered care and understanding the values and priorities of parents regarding the care of their child. My goal is to speak openly and honestly with parents, educate them on pediatric surgical disease and the options for care, and to build a plan together that best meets the needs of the patient and family. My medical interests include:Minimally invasive thoracic/chest and abdominal surgery, including laparoscopy and thoracoscopy, and laparoscopic inguinal hernia repairRobotic SurgerySurgery for congenital lung lesions (CPAM, bronchopulmonary sequestration)Newborn surgeryPediatric surgical oncology (Wilm’s tumor, neuroblastoma)Congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH)Congenital abdominal wall defects (gastroschisis, omphalocele)Counseling for fetal surgical anomaliesExtracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO)Hirschsprung diseaseAnorectal malformationsPrenatal counselingMedical/surgical education Every child is unique. I approach each patient with an open mind and a commitment to tailoring a surgical plan that fits the patient and family’s needs. I also strongly believe that pediatric surgeons are educators and need to be completely invested in training the next generation of pediatric surgeons. I try to make a difference by focusing much of my time and energy into teaching and training medical students, residents and our pediatric surgery fellow. Dr. Boelig is rated as an Experienced provider by MediFind in the treatment of Fibrosing Mediastinitis. He is also highly rated in 12 other conditions, according to our data. His clinical expertise encompasses Duodenal Atresia, Atresia of Small Intestine, Cystic Adenomatoid Malformation of Lung, Splenectomy, and Endoscopy. I treat children because I find it really rewarding to help make a difference with their conditions. Heart diseases can be the most challenging, so seeing them achieve positive outcomes is quite rewarding. Kids are ill through no fault of their own, and helping them see improvements is an amazing blessing. I am passionate about delivering high-level care. Our patients and their families are coming to us in their time of need and they should expect and receive the utmost care for their most prized possession — their health. It’s our job to fulfill that expectation. In addition to providing high-level care, I believe we have an obligation to share our knowledge with successive generations and I believe teaching should be a passion of everyone in the health care field. This helps the medical field as a whole improve and all of us to provide our patients with the highest level of care. I try to make a difference by bringing humor and respect to daily interactions. We all work to be excellent in our respective fields, however it is the human component that separates the good from the great. I try to be both technically good and expressly human in all that I do. I grew up in China’s Hunan province as an active, athletic child. My mom was a physician and my dad was a medical school professor, so I had great role models. Today I’m a radiologist focusing on pediatric musculoskeletal and body imaging, with concentration on X-rays, MRIs, CT scans, ultrasound, and fluoroscopy (how things move inside the body). I am certified in diagnostic radiology and subspecialized in pediatric radiology by the American Board of Radiology. I have been working over 17 years, and remain an active member of the Radiological Society of North America and Society of Pediatric Radiology. I really like kids, and I’m glad to help whenever I can. I work closely with clinical teams to help make sure each child’s diagnosis is correct. I enjoy sharing my expertise with other physicians and learning from them. It’s great to get an understanding of how they approach a diagnosis. I think everyone should have access to quality healthcare. Nemours does because we treat all children regardless of their ability to pay. That’s important to me. I have a passion to be part of excellent medical care for children and do my best to provide the best services possible for each child. I believe in working as a team with the medical associates, patients and families to provide compassionate and high-quality care. My medical interest include: Ultrasound  Musculoskeletal imaging I will keep learning to improve my services with updated knowledge and advanced technique, and ensure each child receives the best care possible. Even at the start of my medical training, I knew I wanted to be in a field where I get to work with children. After my first child was born premature and required NICU-level care, that experience only intensified my desire to work with kids. Having a child requiring medical care is both scary and stressful. As a pediatric radiologist, my goal is to help alleviate those feelings for parents and children by providing the best radiology service and making it as kid friendly as possible. Pediatric radiology is a perfect fit for me. As a pediatric radiologist, I get to work as a consultant with many clinicians in different pediatric fields. Though radiologists are often behind the scenes, we play a vital role in diagnosing the problem, so that children can be treated and feel better. I am passionate about all areas of pediatric radiology including neuroradiology, musculoskeletal imaging and body imaging. I also work with all modalities including X-ray, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, CT and MRI. One of my roles as a radiologist is as a consultant, working with clinicians to ensure that we do the best test with the lowest radiation possible. As radiologists, we are always working to come up with new imaging techniques that can avoid or lower radiation and be more kid friendly. I care for children both at Nemours/A.I. duPont Hospital and the Nemours Deptford Specialty Care and Surgery Center. At our Deptford location, you may see me involved in fluoroscopy, ultrasound and X-ray. I also perform joint injections for MRI arthrograms at our Deptford location, many which are performed to evaluate sports injuries, joint pain or congenital abnormalities. Dr. Schenker is rated as an Experienced provider by MediFind in the treatment of Fibrosing Mediastinitis. She is also highly rated in 93 other conditions, according to our data. Her clinical expertise encompasses Osteoporosis-Pseudoglioma Syndrome, Spondylocarpotarsal Synostosis Syndrome, Caudal Regression Syndrome, Short Stature (Growth Disorders), and Gastrostomy. David Saul was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pa. He attended Drexel University for undergraduate studies in biology and premedical education. David also attended Drexel University's College of Medicine to obtain his MD. Subsequently, he completed his internship and residency in diagnostic radiology at Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. He completed a fellowship in pediatric radiology at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He has worked as an attending radiologist in both private and academic practices, before joining Nemours in September 2019. I believe that children are uniquely deserving of our best care because they are innocent, vulnerable and often unaware or not fully aware of their disease. Being a sick kid can be terrifying, and I want to be there to help in some way. I also greatly appreciate and enjoy how often children can recover from seemingly insurmountable disease. Far from making me sad to see illness in a child, it makes me hopeful to think about his/her potential for health and wellness and to enjoy a full life after receiving appropriate treatment. I am driven by a sense of justice, and that the children we serve deserve our best. I care deeply that we provide care in the most up to date, efficient, honest and accurate way possible.  My medial interests include: Education Thoracic Imaging Cardiac Imaging Body Imaging Ultrasound MRI I try to lead by example, to give my best effort for every child, and take as much time as needed with each family that I encounter. I know that many of the families I see, by the time they arrive in my department, are having the worst day of their lives. I want to provide comfort, reassurance and a smile in those times of difficulty because I would want the same for my family. Dr. Saul is rated as an Experienced provider by MediFind in the treatment of Fibrosing Mediastinitis. He is also highly rated in 127 other conditions, according to our data. His clinical expertise encompasses Caudal Regression Syndrome, Spondylocarpotarsal Synostosis Syndrome, Scoliosis, Hypochondroplasia, and Angioplasty. Dr. Saul is board certified in American Board Of Radiology.

What is the definition of Fibrosing Mediastinitis?

Fibrosing mediastinitis is a condition that affects the area between the lungs (mediastinum) which contains the heart, large blood vessels, windpipe (trachea), esophagus, and lymph nodes. People with Fibrosing mediastinitis have varying amounts of scar tissue in the mediastinum which may cause problems for the organs located there. For example, some affected people may develop blocked airways that can interfere with lung function. Others may have compressed blood vessels which can slow or prevent blood flow to and from the heart. The exact cause of Fibrosing mediastinitis is not fully understood, but it is not inherited. Many cases are linked to a specific type of fungal infection called histoplasmosis.

When should I see a Fibrosing Mediastinitis doctor in Delaware, US?

There are various reasons why you may want to see a specialist, such as:

    • Your primary care provider recommends it.
    • Your condition requires expert knowledge and specialized care.
    • Your symptoms persist or worsen despite treatment.
    • You need specialized testing or procedures.
    • You want a second opinion.

What should I consider when choosing a Fibrosing Mediastinitis doctor in Delaware, US?

It’s important to see a provider with expertise in your specific condition. Each provider profile in MediFind’s doctor database includes information on which conditions they treat, years of experience, research contributions, languages spoken, insurance plans accepted, and more.

How does MediFind rank Fibrosing Mediastinitis doctors in Delaware, US?

MediFind’s rankings are based on a variety of data sources, such as the number of articles a doctor has published in medical journals, participation in clinical trials and industry conferences, as well as the number of patients that provider sees for a given condition. Note that MediFind’s provider database is not based on user reviews, and providers do not pay to be included in the database.

What types of insurance are accepted by Fibrosing Mediastinitis doctors in Delaware, US?

Most profiles in MediFind’s doctor database include a list of insurance plans accepted by that provider. However, it’s a good idea to contact the provider’s office to make sure they still accept your insurance, then doublecheck by contacting your insurance plan to confirm they’re in network.

How can I book an appointment online with a Fibrosing Mediastinitis doctor in Delaware, US?

MediFind offers direct scheduling for certain providers using the “Request Appointment” button on that provider’s profile. If the schedule option is not available for a provider, tap the red “Show Phone Number” button on their profile to get their contact information. If you prefer to find providers who offer online scheduling, select “Schedules online” under the “Availability” category of the filter feature on the left side of the Fibrosing Mediastinitis doctor search results page.

Why is it important to get a second opinion from a different Fibrosing Mediastinitis doctor?

Second opinions are an opportunity to confirm a diagnosis and its root cause, learn about alternative treatment options, or simply gain peace of mind. Many people, especially those with serious diagnoses, get second opinions so they can understand all their options and make informed decisions, so don’t hesitate to get one if you have any doubts or need more information or clarification regarding your care. Note that some insurance plans require second opinions, while others don’t cover second opinions, so be sure to confirm with your insurance provider first.

How can I prepare for my appointment with a Fibrosing Mediastinitis doctor in Delaware, US?

Prepare for your appointment by gathering the following items:

    • Copies of medical records (dating back at least one year)
    • Your medical history, including illnesses, medical conditions, surgeries, and other doctors you see
    • Family history of disease
    • List of current prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal remedies or supplements including names and doses
    • Allergies to medications, food, latex, insects, etc.
    • List of questions and concerns
    • Your insurance card

You might also contact the provider’s office to see if they offer transportation or childcare services or if you’re allowed to bring a loved one for support or to take notes during your visit.

What questions should I ask my Fibrosing Mediastinitis doctor?

    Here are some sample questions:

    • Can you explain in simple terms what this condition is and how it’s treated?
    • What symptoms or side effects should I watch for?
    • What tests will be involved, and when can I expect results?
    • Are there other specialists I need to see?
    • What’s the best way to reach you if I have follow-up questions?

How can I learn about the latest clinical trials and research advances my Fibrosing Mediastinitis doctor may know about?

MediFind’s Clinical Trials tool asks you a series of questions to help you narrow down your search by health condition, age, gender, location, how far you’re willing to travel, and more. Each question you answer filters down the number of trials until you find the ones that are most relevant to you.

MediFind’s Latest Advances tool features summaries of recent articles published in medical journals. We use cutting-edge technology to scour medical publication databases for the latest research advancements on any given condition, then we simplify this information in a way that’s useful and easy to understand.

Can I filter my search to show male or female Fibrosing Mediastinitis doctors in Delaware, US?

Look for the filter feature on the left side of the Fibrosing Mediastinitis doctor search results page. Select “Female” or “Male” under the “Gender” category to search for female or male providers exclusively. If the “Any” option is selected, it will pull results for both male and female providers.

Can I filter my search to find a Fibrosing Mediastinitis doctor that offers video calls?

Look for the filter feature on the left-side of the Fibrosing Mediastinitis doctor search results page. Select “Offers telehealth visits” under the Availability category to search for providers who offer virtual appointments (video calls).
