Dr. Carwin grew up in an Air Force family, so she moved many times but considers Washington, DC her hometown as she spent 14 formative years there, including college and fellowship. She attended George Washington University in Washington, DC for undergraduate studies, earning a Bachelor of Art in Latin American Studies. She went on to attend Georgetown University in Washington, DC for a Master of Art in Latin American Government and Security Issues while simultaneously working as an Air Force civilian.
