Overview
Dr. Gurbani is a board-certified, fellowship trained Orthopaedic surgeon with expertise in Foot and Ankle surgery. He is an Orange County native, and is happy to provide care to the community that he grew up in. Prior to joining SCOS, he practiced for several years as faculty at UCLA.
Dr. Gurbani completed his undergraduate education at Johns Hopkins University. Following this, he completed medical school and Orthopaedic surgery residency at UCLA. He then completed his orthopaedic Foot and Ankle fellowship at the prestigious Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, training with leaders within the field, before returning home to Southern California. Dr. Gurbani has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals, authored chapters in textbooks, and presented his work at national and international meetings. He serves as a peer reviewer for Foot and Ankle International journal, and is an active member of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society.

During medical school, he was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He completed his internship and residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Miami / Jackson Memorial Hospital, one of the busiest adult and pediatric trauma centers in the world. He subsequently completed his hand and upper extremity surgery fellowship at the world- renowned Indiana Hand to Shoulder Center. During his training, Dr. Patel authored numerous journal articles, scientific abstracts, and textbook chapters. He has presented his work at the national level and international levels and is actively involved in the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. He has also provided orthopaedic care to local hospitals in Managua, Nicaragua.Dr. Patel’s practice includes all aspect of the hand, wrist, and elbow, and he treats both children and adults. He has specialized training in arthroscopy, microsurgery, nerve and tendon reconstruction, small joint replacement, sports injuries, wide- awake hand surgery, and work- related injuries. His goal is to provide personalized care to each patient by using the most effective and current treatments possible. Dr. Patel speaks Spanish and Gujarati.
