Dr. Procaccino was born and raised in Westchester, New York. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Manhattan College and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He went on to receive his Doctorate in Medicine from New York Medical College, and was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha in 1984. Dr. Procaccino relocated to Long Island in 1984 where he began his Internship in General Surgery at North Shore University Hospital. Once he completed his training in General Surgery, he trained as a fellow at the Cleveland Clinic. In 1998, he was asked to assume the role of Chief of Colon and Rectal Surgery at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset.Dr. Procaccino has been the Director of North Shore University Hospital s Center for Colon and Rectal Diseases since inception. In this capacity, he was charged with the task of forming a Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery for the North Shore University Hospital and Long Island Jewish Hospital Department of Surgery.
