Javier Torréns, MD, is an endocrinologist who is board-certified in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He later worked on the transcription regulation of leptin at the Laboratory of Molecular Genetics at Rockefeller University. After a successful academic career, he chose to go into clinical medicine.The author of several publications in peer-reviewed journals, Dr. Torréns is a member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, the Endocrine Society, the American Diabetes Association, American Thyroid Association and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.
