Oscar Escobar, MD, is a pediatric endocrinologist and is certified in pediatric endocrinology by the American Board of Pediatrics. He is director of the growth program at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and is associate professor of pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Dr. Escobar received his medical degree from the Universidad del Valle in Cali, Colombia, and completed his residency at Hospital Universitario del Valle in Cali, Colombia and Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. He completed fellowships in pediatric endocrinology both at Louisiana State University in New Orleans, La., and Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. Dr. Escobar’s clinical interests include management of growth disorders, disorders of puberty, thyroid disorders, diabetes, and general pediatric endocrinology. He has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals and is a member of the Pediatric Endocrine Society, Endocrine Society, and the Colombian Association of Pediatric Endocrinology. He is also a member of the board of directors of the Human Growth Foundation. Dr. Escobar lives with his wife, a research nurse at UPMC Children’s.
