Dr. J. Byers Bowen understands that plastic and reconstructive surgery is highly personal. Dr. Bowen spends time getting to know each of his patients to understand their unique needs and goals, and is dedicated to providing high quality care with exceptional results. At Galardi | Bowen Plastic Surgery, Dr. Bowen specializes in cosmetic surgery of the face, breast, and body, including body contouring following massive weight loss; breast reconstruction; and treatment and reconstruction of skin cancers. Dr. Bowen and his wife, Ann, live in Norfolk with their twins. When not in the operating room, Dr. Bowen enjoys spending time with his family, gardening, and wood-working. Dr. Bowen and his wife are members of First Presbyterian Church and supporters of the Team Drea Foundation – established by college friend Andrea Lytle Peet who was diagnosed with ALS at the age of 33 – as well as other causes local to Hampton Roads. Dr. Galardi also serves as Medical Director for Pure Clinical Skin Care.A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Dr. Galardi graduated with honors from Bethany College with a degree in Biochemical Science. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from West Virginia University School of Medicine before moving to Hampton Roads to complete his General Surgery residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School. Dr. Galardi was selected to complete his fellowship in Plastic Surgery at the University of Miami where he trained with top plastic surgeons. While at Miami, Dr. Galardi presented and published his research in the field, and wrote numerous chapters included in Operative Dictations in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery.Following fellowship, Dr. Galardi returned to Hampton Roads to join Galardi | Bowen Plastic Surgery in practice, and bring the latest in innovative aesthetic techniques he gleaned from Miami – often called the capital of plastic surgery – to the area. A short time later, Dr. Galardi enthusiastically welcomed his friend and colleague, Dr. Bowen, to join Galardi.
