Dr. Chad Gridley
Overview
I have a special interest in the use of surgical lasers for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and kidney stones. I am specialized in endourology, which focuses on using scopes to perform surgery, oftentimes without the need for incisions. I perform HoLEP for BPH and find this to be an especially rewarding part of my practice. I look forward to helping patients understand their condition, and I provide patients with evidence-based treatment options that best fit with their goals and beliefs. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my wife and children, cooking, hiking, BBQ, outdoor concerts, and reading.

As a urologist in Duke’s comprehensive kidney stone center, I focus on preventing and treating kidney stones using lifestyle changes, medicine and surgery. I see patients who have blood in their urine, problems with urination, as well as kidney stone pain and prevention. I went into urology because it’s a unique field where you can treat a problem with both medicine and surgery. My favorite part of my job is when someone comes in with pain and we are able to help relieve that pain and hopefully prevent it from returning. I came to Duke after my active duty service in the Army was completed in 2010 and since then, my family has really become a “Duke family.” We regularly attend Duke Football games and other sporting and social events. My wife also works here, my kids have expressed interest in attending college here and we all regularly wear the Duke blue colors on weekends.
