Philosophy of care | My philosophy in helping patients is to sit back and listen to what they say. Getting to know the patients' families and hearing about what is going on in their lives can help me make suggestions to help them. I really believe in the osteopathic philosophy of treating the body as a whole. I spend time with my patients and give them the chance to express what is on their mind and ask questions. | Why I entered medicine | In school I had always enjoyed and done well in health sciences. When my neighbor, who was like a grandmother to me, became ill, I really started thinking about medicine. At that time, my family physician became a role model and mentor to me. After shadowing him, I realized that I enjoyed talking to patients, developing a diagnosis and being able to help them. I have gone to an osteopathic family physician my entire life. I never knew the difference between a D.O. and an M.D. until I got older. I chose the osteopathic profession because it fit my personality and beliefs. I enjoy being able to apply osteopathic manipulation as an additional option in treatment. | Personal interests | Family values are very important to me. In my spare time, I enjoy playing with my children, being outside and spending time with extended family.
