Dr. Dan Grahl specializes in helping patients restore function and achieve greater mobility. Dr. Grahl's unique professional background enhances his understanding of all types of patients.Prior to becoming a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Grahl was a high school teacher / coach, worked in landscaping and played collegiate baseball. He attended Peach County High School and played both baseball and football for the Trojans. Following his graduation from Peach County HS, he went on to play baseball for the Hurricanes at Georgia Southwestern State University. Dr. Grahl graduated cum laude from Georgia Southwestern State University in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in biology. He continued his education at GSW until 2005, while fulfilling his athletic scholarship playing baseball for the Hurricanes.Dr. Grahl worked for the Department of Natural Resources, and then a landscaping company before starting his teaching career. He spent three years coaching football and baseball while teaching at Peach County HS. While working, he continued to pursue his dream to enter the medical field and was accepted to Mercer University Medical School in Macon.After graduating from Mercer in 2013, Dan and his wife, Lauren, along with their son Ken, moved to Augusta for orthopedic residency. During residency, their family grew with the addition of two girls, Lila Beth and Sadie Brooke. After completion of residency, he received a Sports Medicine fellowship at Mississippi Sports Medicine Orthopedic Center in Jackson, Mississippi.Dr. Grahl's professional interests include complete orthopedic care of the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, ankle. This includes shoulder replacements, complex knee injuries, cartilage restoration, osteotomies, multi-ligament injuries, orthopedic fracture care and some joint replacement. Todd A. Schmidt, M.D., is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is an American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Fellow. Dr. Schmidt is fellowship trained in both shoulder surgery and sports medicine. His practice includes orthopaedic surgery with a special interest in sports medicine, shoulder, hip and knee disorders and arthritic joint reconstruction He is an innovator in the use of computer-assisted surgery in joint replacement and in the evaluation of hip disorders, and the use of arthroscopy to treat them. Prior to his founding role in OrthoAtlanta, Dr. Schmidt held leadership positions on the Board of Directors and Finance Committee for the Hughston Clinic. He also has served as the Board Chair and Finance Chair at OrthoAtlanta.Dr. Schmidt is active in community athletic events, having served as a physician for the USA Olympic Sports Medicine Association and the Special Olympics. He also has served as the Medical Director for the LPGA, Chick-fil-A Charity Golf Championship and both the Peach Bowl and Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl in multiple years. Dr. Schmidt also served as an associate team physician for the Atlanta Falcons. In addition, he continues his relationship as team physician for Union Grove High School and Strong Rock Christian School. Dr. Schmidt is a past Chief of Medical Staff at Piedmont Henry Hospital. He is on the board of the Georgia Orthopedic Society, and is a past president. He is also on the Board of Counselors of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) and serves on the governing board of Piedmont Henry Hospital.
