Overview
Ricky D. Heath, MD, specializes in caring for adults 65 and older. As a geriatrician, he helps patients and their families manage many age-related health conditions, including frailty, falls, incontinence, dizziness and confusion. He also has clinical expertise and interest in helping older adults with multiple prescriptions (polypharmacy), and he diagnoses and treats all types of dementia.|Dr. Heath aims to help patients better understand how aging affects their health. “The thing I love most about being a geriatrician is taking the time to sit with patients and understand what matters most to them,” he says. “By working together, we can achieve and maintain their health goals.”|Dr. Heath was inspired to become a geriatric doctor after working in nursing homes throughout high school and college. “I loved every day I spent as a nurse’s aide,” he says. “After I learned there was a medical specialty dedicated to helping older adults, I knew I wanted to be a geriatrician.”|In his spare time, Dr. Heath enjoys traveling, reading or doing arts and crafts with his four children.|Video: more from Dr. Ricky Heath, M.D.
