In regard to scientific investigation, the Perrella laboratory is interested in the regulation and biology of genes important for the modulation of inflammation in systemic disease processes, and the use of stem/progenitor cells for therapy of critical illnesses including sepsis, lung injury, and heart failure. The ultimate goal of his laboratory is to develop novel cell-based strategies for the treatment of cardiopulmonary and vascular diseases for patients of all ages, from premature infants to adults.
