Dr. Lerner earned his medical degree from George Washington University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, followed by a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Lerner then completed a two-year advanced fellowship in interventional pulmonology at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, including a chief fellowship year. He has been involved in multiple research projects in the field and completed a Science of Clinical Investigation Certificate Program at Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health. Dr. Lerner has been a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honors society since 2011 and earned The Johns Hopkins Hospital Patient Safety Star Award in 2016. Dr. Yarmus is a Professor of Medicine and Oncology and the director of Interventional Pulmonology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine as well as the Vice Chair of Medicine for Strategy and Finance.
