Dr. Andrew D. Monasterio
Overview
Andrew provides psychiatric diagnostic evaluations and medication management. Originally from Tennessee but culturally identifying as a Californian, he blends his Southern hospitality, West Coast inclusivity, and home-grown empathy to create a warm, welcoming, and judgment-free atmosphere. Andrew uses a flexible, modern biopsychosocial approach to authentically connect with people to fully understand their unique selves, journeys, struggles, and goals. Andrew will collaboratively develop a holistic, whole-person wellness plan tailored to each individual's needs and goals.
Unlike the old-school authoritarian model of psychiatry, Andrew will share information about risks, benefits, preferences, and values in exploring different options and finding what best makes sense for each patient. If medications are part of the plan, it will be guided by science and evidence-based practice, combining his knowledge and experience in neurobiology and psychopharmacology.
Andrew enjoys spending quality time with his family, including their Boston Terriers, Lilo and Stitch, the beach, traveling, sports (disclaimer: despite his newfound identity, he does not claim any West Coast team – go Titans!), Lego (this is his newest hobby! Ask him about the therapeutic benefits), and true to his multicultural roots, good food from coast to coast.
