Dr. Menczelesz developed a special interest and passion for medicine since the beginning of high school when he started volunteering at a local hospital's pathology and surgery department in Budapest, Hungary. He graduated from Semmelweis University Medical School in Budapest in basic sciences and in the clinical training of classic diagnostic methods. Dr. Menczelesz graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1986 In the same year. Dr. Menczelesz started working as a physician in training at a Budapest hospital's department of internal medicine where Dr. Menczelesz had ample opportunity to learn from his professors and peers, and to attend clinical conferences and real time pathological autopsies alike, while immersing himself in the vast literature of mostly American and Western European classic textbooks and journals on the subjects of internal medicine and its subspecialties. After passing the ECFMG Basic and Clinical Sciences tests on two consecutive days in 1991, Dr. Menczelesz immigrated to the US in 1992 and started his American postgraduate training in the same year. In 1995, after the completion of the 3 years of internal medicine residency program at Coney Island Hospital, Brooklyn, NY, Dr. Menczelesz stayed for another 2 years at the same institution as an assistant attending in internal medicine.
