Prior to joining Johns Hopkins, Dr. Nyhan was an instructor of life sciences at Regional College in Cork, Ireland, and an instructor of physiology at University College Cork–National University of Ireland, Cork. Dr. Nyhan's research interests include the underlying mechanisms of vascular aging. He serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia and is a reviewer for the Anesthesiology journal. He is a member of the Faculty Senate at Johns Hopkins. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the Association of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists.
