Dr. Lauren Schwartz is a highly rated, leading Ivy league trained New York gastroenterologist with a special interest in general gastroenterology as well as Women’s health, colon cancer screening, inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease / Ulcerative Colitis), IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) and is also one a select few gastroenterologists certified in clinical nutrition. Dr. Schwartz received her undergraduate degree from Yale University and graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in biology. She then obtained her medical degree from Weill-Cornell Medical College and completed her internal medicine residency at the affiliated Weill Cornell/New York Presbyterian Hospital. Driven by an interest in the nutritional aspects of gastrointestinal disease, she completed a clinical nutrition fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and is one of a handful of physicians certified in clinical nutrition. Dr. Schwartz then completed her gastroenterology fellowship at the Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan.
Dr. Schwartz is a member of American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE), as well as the American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition. Dr. Schwartz has been extensively published in medical literature and has presented various abstracts and other oral presentations in her field.
