Dr. James Cassuto
Overview
James Cassuto, MD, PhD, is a diagnostic and nuclear radiologist with Atlantic Medical Group and serves as the section chief in the Department of Nuclear Medicine at Overlook Medical Center. He is board-certified in diagnostic radiology by the American Board of Radiology and in Nuclear Medicine by the American Board of Nuclear Medicine. Dr. Cassuto completed a rigorous combined dual-degree program to earn his MD and PhD, in his pursuit to combine academic and clinical interests as a physician-scientist.Overseeing a busy nuclear medicine department, Dr. Cassuto performs all general and specialized nuclear medicine studies and therapies. He has expertise in the latest advances in nuclear radiology that can deliver precision treatment, particularly in targeting tumors. Under his direction, the team provides patients with the safest and most noninvasive options for diagnostic and nuclear medicine procedures. Dr. Cassuto has published extensively on topics in radiology and continues to pursue research in nuclear medicine, with the goal of bringing scientific discoveries in radiology and nuclear medicine to the bedside. His special interests include medical device development and the integration of therapeutics and diagnostics for patient care. He is a member of the American College of Radiology, Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, and the Association for the Advancement of Science.Dr. Cassuto earned his dual-degree from New York Medical College and served as a research fellow at Oxford University in England before completing his residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami. In addition, he has pursued several business interests, most notably a medical device start-up seeking to improve surgical outcomes with the development of interventional/minimally invasive implant solutions and technology. Dr. Cassuto is a participating provider of the Atlantic Accountable Care Organization.
