Overview
Originally from India and growing up in Kuwait, Dr. Tharayil came to the US to attend college. She went on to medical school at Harvard, and graduated in 2003. She obtained an MPH in International Health in 2004, and then joined the residency program at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. Dr. Tharayil joined HVMA shortly afterwards, in early 2008, and have been at the Kenmore practice since. It is great to work with multiple specialties and full service lab, radiology department, and pharmacy on-site.Dr. Tharayil's practice is primarily a Women’s Health practice. She does have a few male patients (usually the relatives of my female patients). The practice is quite varied in age, medical issues, and ethnic/ social backgrounds. With that, every day is interesting and challenging. She especially enjoys working with patients that have diabetes and other endocrine disorders. She also works on a quality improvement committee that reviews reported cases of errors/ undesired outcomes, to analyze the root causes of these errors, in order to design systems-based approaches to preventing them in the future. She has been co-precepting residents with Shanthy Sridhar this year.In Dr, Tharayil's free time, she volunteers with a visually disabled client of the Massachusetts Association for the Blind, and is involved with her church.
