
Overview
Alberto Martini is an Assistant Professor and the Director of Research in the Department of Urology.
He is extensively trained in robotic and laparoscopic surgery, having been mentored by pioneers in minimally invasive surgery. His professional experience spans the USA (New York City and Houston), Europe (Florence, Milan, Dresden, Prague, and Toulouse), and Australia (Melbourne). He also received specialized training in gene therapy for bladder cancer under Dr. Dinney, a gene therapy pioneer for bladder cancer, at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Dr. Martini is passionate about advancing research and utilizing innovative statistical methods to enhance healthcare approaches and patient outcomes. He has authored over 170 research articles and earned national and international recognition for his work. Notably, he holds a patent for the integration of 3D models during robotic prostatectomy, reflecting his commitment to improving surgical precision and patient care.
His clinical and research focus is on urological oncology, specifically prostate, bladder, and kidney cancer.
Dr. Martini actively contributes to several international working groups, including the European Association of Urology (EAU) – Young Academic Urologists group on Prostate Cancer. He is also an associate member of the scientific working group of the Robotic Urology Section of the EAU and the EAU Guidelines on muscle-invasive and metastatic bladder cancer.
