Armando Ganoza, MD, is a transplant surgeon and is certified in adult and pediatric transplant surgery by the American Society of Transplant Surgeons (ASTS). He is a surgical director of the Pediatric Kidney Transplant Program at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and is an assistant professor of surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He received his medical degree from San Marcos University in Lima, Peru, and completed his residency at Guillermo Almenara Hospital in Lima, Peru. He received his fellowship training in kidney, pancreas, and small bowel transplant surgery from the Thomas E. Starzl Transplantation Institute and UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. He also completed the ASTS fellowship in transplant and hepatobiliary surgery at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital. Dr. Ganoza’s clinical interests include kidney, liver, pancreas, and intestinal transplantation in children and adults. He has special interests in liver and kidney living organ donation. He is also experienced in autologous islet-cell transplantation for chronic pancreatitis. He has numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and is a member of several transplant societies including, ASTS, AST, IPTA, IRTA, TTS, and SPLIT.
