My first priority is clinical patient care, and I enjoy managing neurology patients with headache, neuropathy, muscle disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), multiple sclerosis (MS) and stroke. I work to provide the best care through shared decision-making. Health care, and especially conditions involving the brain and nervous system, can be intimidating. I begin by listening carefully to my patients to understand what they already know and to answer any questions they may have. We go through the neurological exam together. I explain the situation carefully to help correct any misconceptions and provide understanding. I take a team approach and involve patients and their family members in all decisions to find the best treatment options. My goal is always to improve my patients' quality of life. Outside of my clinical work, I serve as Assistant Professor of Neurology, and Assistant Program Director of the Neurology Residency at the University of Minnesota.
