Dr. Edward E. Taylor

Dr. Brian Tibbs brings more than a decade of clinical and research experience to Texas Health Surgical Care. As a fellowship-trained trauma/critical care surgeon, he has extensive experience in the surgical management of patients with critical wounds, burns, traumatic injuries and other life-threatening conditions. With his added qualification in surgical critical care, Dr. Tibbs is also able to care for post-surgical patients in the ICU. He currently serves as the medical director of Trauma Services for Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas. Previously, he was the medical director of Burn and Trauma Research at Mercy Medical Research Institute in Springfield, Mo.Dr. Tibbs earned his medical degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He remained in Kansas City to complete his residency training in general surgery before heading to Atlanta, Ga. While in Georgia, Dr. Tibbs pursued his fellowship-training in trauma and surgical critical care at Emory University School of Medicine. He uses advanced and minimally invasive surgical techniques to perform complex hernia and abdominal wall repairs; intestinal bowel surgeries, laparoscopic appendectomies, cholecystectomies and gallbladder removal; tissue biopsies; and other acute care and emergent surgeries.In addition to his in-depth clinical work in trauma and surgical critical care, Dr. Tibbs is well-published on topics ranging from burn trauma and gunshot wounds to hemorrhagic shock and rare fungal infections in tornado victims. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma and Western Trauma Association. Dr. Christopher Cooper is board-certified in general surgery and in surgical critical care. After graduating from Duke University in Durham, N.C., with an undergraduate degree in biological anthropology and anatomy, Dr. Cooper earned his medical degree from East Carolina University-The Brody School of Medicine in Greenville. He then went on to complete his general surgery internship and residency training at the University of Missouri in Columbia before completing his trauma and surgical critical care fellowship at the University of California-Irvine.Dr. Cooper performs most types of general surgical procedures, including open and minimally invasive procedures for gallbladder removal, removal of the appendix, acute emergencies related to solid organ and hollow viscous intra-abdominal injuries, hernia repair and other health concerns. His areas of special focus and primary interest include trauma, burn, critical care and acute care surgery.He is published in such peer-reviewed journals as the Journal of Trauma, Military Medicine, and Prehospital and Disaster Medicine</em>. He has spoken throughout the country on topics ranging from trauma innovation and strategies for neglected trauma disease to training for endotracheal intubation and recognition and management of nerve agent causalities.Dr. Cooper is an Associate Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is also involved in the American Medical Association and the Texas Medical Association. When not caring for his patients, Dr. Cooper enjoys golfing, playing tennis and advancing his photography skills. Dallas native Dr. Charles Iliya is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is dual board-certified in general surgery and surgical critical care, with additional specialization in trauma and vascular surgery. Dr. Iliya graduated from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas and completed his general surgery residency training at St. Paul Medical Center, also in Dallas. He went on to complete his vascular surgery fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.Dr. Iliya has been on the medical staff of Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas for more than 25 years. He has decades of experience in the use of advanced and minimally invasive surgical techniques, with vascular surgery as his area of special interest. In 2005, Dr. Iliya championed the National Vascular Access Improvement Initiative. He has been honored with the President's Recognition Award given out by the Presbyterian Healthcare System.Previously, Dr. Iliya served as a Clinical Instructor and Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical School. He also served as Chief of Medical Staff for Baylor Scott & White Medical Center White Rock in Dallas. He speaks fluent Spanish.
