Dr. Brian J. Mcginley
Overview
Brian J. McGinley, M.D., is a board-certified, fellowship-trained sports medicine, hip and knee reconstruction specialist. He has provided orthopedic care for the patients of Suffolk County for more than 20 years, caring for thousands of patients. Dr. McGinley lectures nationally and internationally on computer assisted and robotic assisted total knee replacement surgery.
Dr. McGinley has been on the forefront of developing computer navigation in total knee replacement surgery since 2002. He received a US Patent for developing a precision cutting instrument used in total knee replacement surgery. Dr. McGinley performed the first robotically assisted total knee replacement in the world using the Navio System.
Dr. McGinley served as assistant team physician for the New York Knicks, team physician for the Long Island Lizards lacrosse team and US Open Golf Player's Physician Bethpage Black, NY, 2002. He has also served as orthopedic consultant to local colleges and high schools in Suffolk County. He completed his sports medicine and joint replacement fellowship at the Insall Scott Kelly Orthopaedic Institute in New York City. Dr. McGinley joined Orlin & Cohen in 2019, following its acquisition of Long Island Bone & Joint in Port Jefferson, NY, where he was a partner.

Through his work with Major League Baseball, he has been able to better define injury patterns and treatment outcomes in elite level overhead athletes. He plans to continue this research to further the understanding of youth injuries, including methods of prevention, to keep young athletes healthy. Dr. Erickson has served as one of the assistant team physicians for the Philadelphia Phillies as well as the New York Mets, and has recently been elected to the advisory committee for MLB Pitchsmart.
