Dr. Kenneth M. Fine is an orthopaedic surgeon affiliated with Sibley Memorial Hospital, Shady Grove Adventist Hospital and George Washington University Hospital, where he serves as an assistant clinical professor of orthopaedics for the University. He practices out of The Orthopaedic Center, located in Rockville, Maryland and Washington, D.C. Dr. Fine is currently the team physician and medical director of D.C. United professional soccer team, as well as a consultant in pediatric and adolescent sports medicine at Children’s National Medical Center. Dr. Fine was among the first group of surgeons in the country to become subspecialty certified in orthopaedic sports medicine. He has an expertise in arthroscopy of the knee, shoulder, hip, elbow and ankle; cartilage disorders; concussions in sports; and treating the patella. Dr. Fine earned his medical degree from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He completed a residency in orthopaedic surgery and a fellowship in sports medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Previously, Dr. Fine provided medical care for Olympic soccer teams during the 1996 summer Olympics, was co-medical director for the World Figure Skating championships in 2003 and served at the Olympic Training Center in 2008, where he was also the physician for the Junior U.S. Boxing Championships. Dr. Fine has also served as the physician for the U.S. fast-track speed skating team; the medical provider to Cirque du Soleil, the Boston Ballet Company and the Joffrey Ballet; the medical director for the Cherry Blossom 10-mile road race and National Race for the Cure; the director of orthopaedic sports medicine at George Washington University and Children’s National Medical Center; an orthopaedic consultant for the D.C. Divas professional football team; and the team physician for George Washington University teams and several high school teams. Dr. Fine has been named a Super Doctor by the Washington Post magazine, as well as a Top Doctor by Consumers’ Checkbook magazine and a Regional Top Doctor for the Washington, D.C., Baltimore and Washington-Baltimore areas by Castle Connolly.
