Dr. Fan is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon who is a native of Southern California. Born and raised in the San Gabriel Valley, Dr. Fan attended the University of California, Berkeley and Meharry Medical College graduating with High Honors (Top 5-10%).Following medical school, Dr. Fan completed his residency in San Diego at the Naval Medical Center. He earned the rank of Lieutenant Commander, serving over 11 years in the United States Navy as an Orthopaedic Surgeon and Battalion Surgeon for United States Marine Corps. He served with the 2nd Battalion 4th Marines, deploying with the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2005-2006. He was actively involved in the training and care of the Marines and Sailors at the Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton serving as the Physician Assistant Supervisor and Graduate Medical Education Coordinator throughout his time at the Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton.After receiving an Honorable Discharge from the Navy in 2014, he transitioned to civilian medicine serving as staff physician at Whittier Hospital Medical Center and Placentia Linda Hospital.
