Amy Houtrow, MD, PhD, MPH, is a professor and endowed chair in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation for Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She is also the vice chair for quality and outcomes and chief of pediatric rehabilitation medicine services at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh (CHP). She received her medical degree from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and then completed dual residencies in pediatrics and physical medicine and rehabilitation in Cincinnati. During her residencies, she also earned her MPH from the University of Michigan’s School of Public Health in health policy and management. While completing an NIH career development award, Dr. Houtrow earned her PhD with distinction in medical sociology from the University of California San Francisco (UCSF). She is board-certified in pediatrics, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and pediatric rehabilitation medicine.
