Dr. Philip Edmundson's undergraduate education in philosophy has helped him to excel as a critical thinker and adept problem solver in the operating room. This he combines with his advanced training and clinical experience in general surgery, surgical critical care and trauma surgery to deliver the utmost in surgical care to his patients.Dr. Philip Edmundson is a fifth-generation Texan, born in San Antonio and then raised in Houston. This he combines with his advanced training and clinical experience in general surgery, surgical critical care and trauma surgery to deliver the utmost in surgical care to his patients.Dr. Edmundson earned his medical degree in 2013 from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. He served as a member of the Parkland Memorial Hospital Ethics committee throughout his medical training. He was named Chief Resident in the final year of his general surgery residency at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. Dr. Edmundson received other honors during his time at Baylor as well, including Top ABSITE Score, Raleigh Ross Scholar and the David B. McReynold Servant's Heart Award. He went on to complete his surgical critical care fellowship at The UT Health Science Center at San Antonio, where he also served as a specialist within the Division of Trauma & Emergency Surgery.As a fellowship-trained surgical critical care physician, Dr. Edmundson cares for patients with acute, life-threatening and potentially life-threatening surgical conditions, including tissue injuries due to trauma/wounds, burns, infections, acute inflammation and ischemia. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma and Society of Critical Care Medicine-Texas Chapter. When not with his patients, Dr. Edmundson enjoys film photography and playing on his electric and acoustic guitars. He currently serves as the medical director of Trauma Services for Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas. Previously, he was the medical director of Burn and Trauma Research at Mercy Medical Research Institute in Springfield, Mo.Dr. Tibbs earned his medical degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He remained in Kansas City to complete his residency training in general surgery before heading to Atlanta, Ga. While in Georgia, Dr. Tibbs pursued his fellowship-training in trauma and surgical critical care at Emory University School of Medicine. He uses advanced and minimally invasive surgical techniques to perform complex hernia and abdominal wall repairs; intestinal bowel surgeries, laparoscopic appendectomies, cholecystectomies and gallbladder removal; tissue biopsies; and other acute care and emergent surgeries.In addition to his in-depth clinical work in trauma and surgical critical care, Dr. Tibbs is well-published on topics ranging from burn trauma and gunshot wounds to hemorrhagic shock and rare fungal infections in tornado victims. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma and Western Trauma Association.
