Condition:
Recurrent Patellar Instability in Patients with Trochlear Dysplasia and Increased Femoral Antetorsion
Journal:
The Knee
Treatment Used:
Deepening Trochleoplasty and Supracondylar External Rotation Osteotomy
Number of Patients:
7
Published —
July 27, 2020
This study determined whether combined deepening trochleoplasty and supracondylar femoral external rotation osteotomy improve patellar (kneecap) stability and function in patients with recurrent patellar instability due to trochlear dysplasia and increased femoral antetorsion.
Condition:
Recurrent Patellar Instability
Journal:
Knee surgery, sports traumatology, arthroscopy : official journal of the ESSKA
Treatment Used:
Medial Patellofemoral Ligament Reconstruction and Combined Tibial Tubercle Osteotomy
Number of Patients:
144
Published —
December 05, 2019
This study investigated the influence of an increased femoral anteversion angle on clinical outcomes after medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction and combined tibial tubercle osteotomy for the treatment of recurrent patellar instability.

Bilateral Double-Layered Patella Complicated by Severe Osteoarthrosis
Journal:
Ugeskrift for laeger
Treatment Used:
Removal of Posterior Patella and Anterior Patella Resurfaced
Number of Patients:
1
Published —
December 04, 2019
This case report discusses a 51-year-old male patient with bilateral double-layered patella complicated by severe osteoarthrosis. Bilateral surgery was performed with cruciate substituting arthroplasty. The left knee had minimal patellofemoral arthrosis and good patella tracking, and resurfacing was not performed. The right knee had patella maltracking and trochlear dysplasia with severe arthrosis. Removal of the posterior patella was performed, and the anterior patella was resurfaced.

Published —
November 09, 2019
This article discusses medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction for patellar dislocation.
Condition:

Treatment Used:
Lateral Wedge Augmentation Trochleoplasty
Number of Patients:
58
Published —
October 20, 2019
This study tested the safety and efficacy of using a lateral wedge augmentation trochleoplasty on patients with a recurrent knee dislocation while not progressing osteoarthritis.
Condition:

Journal:
Archives of orthopaedic and trauma surgery
Treatment Used:
isolated trochleoplasty versus trochleoplasty combined with medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction
Number of Patients:
192
Published —
August 03, 2019
The purpose of the study was to assess the efficacy of isolated trochleoplasty versus trochleoplasty combined with medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction for the treatment of severe trochlear dysplasia.

Published —
February 06, 2019
This study examined the outcomes of an anatomic trochlear-cutting patellofemoral arthroplasty (replaces damaged cartilage and corrects deformities to reduce pain; PFA) system for patients with trochlear dysplasia (unstable kneecap due to abnormal development).
